Sakura's stage name was "사쿠라" in Korea and "SAKURA" in English, but

in the recent audition to find a Japanese member for the KATSEYE's hoobae group,

Sakura was confirmed as a member of the junior group,

and it seems they are in the process of changing her existing English name from "SAKURA" to "MIYAWAKI SAKURA."

Even though it might seem like a minor issue, since all kinds of rumors circulate based on their official stage names, if the name becomes too complicated or hard to search for, it can have a significant impact, which is why people are asking why they changed it in the first place. 

1. Stage names are a sensitive issue to begin with, so it's surprising enough to see idols with the same name, from the same agency, debuting at the same time.

2. They're even changing the sunbae idol's English stage name... Even if they add a surname to both English names, they're making the sunbae idol's official English name, which has been used for years with #SAKURA in fan content, even more complicated…?

As any K-pop fan knows, there's a massive amount of fan speculation surrounding official English names, so changing them has a bigger impact than you might think.

Usually, they'd change the names of hoobae idols, so it's surprising to see the same agency doing this.

If you look at past examples, HYBE has done this more than once, but it seems people are reacting with surprise that they're doing this to their own HYBE idols now
