[theqoo] BUSAN CITY WITHDRAWS OFFER TO DRAFT CIVIL SERVANTS FOR BTS' CONCERT ft. HAIDILAO

"[Breaking News] Controversy over drafting civil servants for BTS Busan concert... City shifts to deploying volunteers"

Recently, a post titled “1,000 civil servants to be drafted for BTS concert. For free” appeared on an anonymous online community for office workers.

The author, who verified their identity as a civil servant, raised an issue by stating, “It’s not being held on the streets like the Seoul concert, nor is it a free performance, and it isn’t being hosted by the Busan Metropolitan City government.” They asked, “Is it right that 915 Busan city officials are being mobilized for a commercial concert that HYBE is trying to make money from, without them hiring contractors with their own funds?”

As the post spread, heated debate ensued online regarding the appropriateness of deploying civil servants.

Some argued that city-level support is necessary, given that the BTS concert contributes to revitalizing the local economy and promoting the city. Opinions were also raised that deploying public officials is inevitable for citizen safety management, as the event attracts massive crowds.

On the other hand, counterarguments were raised that safety management personnel for profit-driven concerts should be directly hired by the management agency or the organizers, and that deploying public personnel for this purpose is inappropriate.

As the controversy escalated, the Busan Metropolitan City government withdrew its original plan to conscript public officials and decided to organize the workforce solely from volunteers.

A Busan City official stated, "The conscripted public officials were originally scheduled to handle safety management duties, such as traffic control and maintaining order around Sajik Stadium on the day of the concert," adding, "However, following internal discussions after the controversy erupted, we decided to withdraw the plan."

1. Why would our public servants be dispatched in an idol concert in the suburb? Or are you telling me this is a national event?

2. It's not even a national event, why should they invest our public servants?

3. Go use your money to hire your own people. Are you kidding me?

4. Drafting 900 people is so oba, go hire your own company

5. HYBE and BTS are so rich, yet they don't wanna use their own money

6. Isn't HYBE rich? Even for Gwanghwamun, they should've already used their own money. And they claimed all these benefits, while the Gwanghwamun show didn't even attract any new tourists

7. What's HYBE about that we need to draft our own public servants? Didn't they create such a controversy with Gwanghwamun already?

8. Why would HYBE draft our public servants...?

9. Pay and go hire your own people

10. BTS should pay since they're so rich
