As TWICE member Jeongyeon prepares for her acting debut, it has been confirmed that she recently met with Varo Entertainment, the agency that represents her older sister Gong Seung-yeon and actor Byeon Woo-seok.
According to OSEN's reporting on June 24, Jeongyeon recently held a private meeting with representatives from Varo Entertainment. It is said that the two sides had a serious discussion regarding her future activities as an actress.
A Varo Entertainment representative told OSEN, "It is true that we met with Jeongyeon," but added, "Nothing has been finalized regarding an exclusive contract yet," taking a cautious stance.
Jeongyeon is currently set to make her big-screen debut in the upcoming film New Recruit: The Movie (Shinbyeong: The Movie), marking her first movie appearance in about 10 years since her debut. The film is an adaptation of the well-received New Recruit drama series that aired on ENA, and she is expected to play a nursing officer. As she expands her career into acting, her meeting with Varo Entertainment, where her sister Gong Seung-yeon is signed, has drawn additional attention.
With Jeongyeon showing strong interest in pursuing acting, attention is also turning to TWICE's future activities and the possibility of contract renewal.
Regarding this, a JYP Entertainment representative told OSEN, "We are continuing discussions with Jeongyeon during the contract renewal negotiation period," offering a brief official statement.
