The obesity prevalence rate among Seoul citizens has been on an upward trend, rising from 28.5% in 2013 to 33.2% in 2024. After reaching a peak of 35.9% in 2020 and showing a slight decrease, the rate appears to be rebounding starting in 2024.
By gender, the rate was 45.8% for men and 21.5% for women, indicating that men showed an obesity prevalence rate more than twice as high as women. The prevalence of obesity in men showed a distinct increase from 35.2% in 2013 to 45.8% in 2024, while in women it remained stable from 22.1% in 2013 to 21.5% in 2024.
