[instiz] IS SOUTH KOREA REALLY THAT CONTROLLING?

I read this story about a British woman and it got me curious. Since we're society where people are very sensitive to social cues, I think it's probably true, but I'm wondering just how extreme it is. Has anyone lived abroad for a long time?

A: "(Reading a comment) I used to be a fan of unnie, but I'm disappointed."

B: But it annoys me when people leave comments like that.
It feels like they're saying it just to hurt my feelings.
But I think we need to stop doing that.
Koreans tend to be a bit too critical.

B: So if someone I like does something I don't usually do, or something I'm not really into,
it really ruins my mood.

B: But once you stop trying to control things, life becomes so much easier, you know?
That person can be anything.
Because they're not me.
So even if unnie does something weird,
I just watch.
I just think, "Oh, that's just how she is."
I think that's what true maturity is.

1. Koreans are severely controlling. Just look at Instiz

2. Is it because we're a single-ethnic nation?

3. Yup

3. Our controlling tendencies are strong

4. We like uniformity no? we don't like standing out, and we have a strong tendency to want to be in control

5. Just look at Instizㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ You'll see just how controlling people are

6. People will enver think about agreeing with an opinion different from theirs

7. It's freaking severeㅋㅋㅋ Just look at how others put you down if you don't get married, or if you go to college late..

8. It's f*cking bad

9. Yup, we try everything to change an opinion we don't like. It's f*cking severe

10. The whole country is practically obsessed with control to the point of insanity, and it seems to be getting worse and worse. It's as if they have an answer for everything and control everything as if anything else were wrong.
