Iconic by mistake by KATSEYEXILLITXLESSRAFIM is the prime examples because how are people genuinely enjoying that song. The lyrics sound like they were written by a middle schooler and the song itself sounds like some heavily auto tuned kids bop stuff. And yet there are people who are eating it up like its song of the year. Its number 38 on billboard, it has over 50 million streams on spotify in less than a month and whatnot. And yea i get that these big companies always have insane playlisting and fans stream all day using multiple accounts but those things aside there are grown people who are actually listen and enjoy the song. People are out here doing the choreo on tiktok, actually listening to the song like the enjoy it and im thinking 'how are they doing this? Do the corny lyrics dont make you turn that song off?' I dont want to hate on the girls because i know some of them are extremely talented but cmon, they deserve better than releasing this cringey music.
And this is already leading to big companies releasing garbage music because they know fans would eat it up as long as they debut good looking, funny, "relatable" idols, doesnt matter even if they are mid at best at singing/dancing because fans would still defend those idols by making up all sorts of excuses and stream like theyre getting paid for it. Fans have started stanning based on variety shows now like oh haha this group is so funny, lemme stan them and stream their music all day long and spend hundreds of dollars on tickets to their concert where they most likely would be using heavy backtrack for the terrible songs.
