The group The Boyz will continue their activities as a nine-member group under a newly established label.
On August 6, The Boyz members Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric announced via an official press release, "The nine of us have agreed to continue our group activities as The Boyz and have finalized a contract for collective group operations. We are currently preparing for activities under this new label system." Member New, who has not left the group's previous agency, One Hundred, is not expected to participate in The Boyz's activities for the time being.
The nine-member group stated, "Before fleshing out plans for individual activities, the members deliberated deeply, prioritizing a decision for the fans (The B) who must have endured a long wait filled with worry. Believing that preserving the time and trust built with fans was paramount, we first clarified the direction for the group's future and stable team operations before proceeding to prepare for individual activities."
They added, "While the members will pursue individual activities through separate contracts with agencies best suited to maximizing their respective capabilities, they plan to simultaneously carry out group activities without interruption, backed by full cooperation. We will maintain a close collaborative system to ensure that the team activities of The Boyz continue stably while respecting each member's individual pursuits."
The members expressed their determination, stating, "Our resolve that all nine of us must stay together has never wavered from the very beginning. Above all, we wanted to share our intentions first with the fans who have been waiting for and worrying about The Boyz's group activities. We will do our utmost to continue the precious time we have built with our fans as The Boyz, while also giving our best in our respective individual endeavors."
They further added, "We sincerely thank our fans, 'The B,' for their unwavering love and support. We will work hard to repay you with great performances, so please continue to cheer us on." Specific plans and schedules regarding future team activities will be revealed sequentially at a later date.
The members of The Boyz had signed with One Hundred, led by Cha Gawon, but recently became embroiled in a dispute regarding their exclusive contract. Following their filing for an injunction to suspend the validity of the exclusive contract with the Seoul Central District Court, the court ruled in their favor.
In response, The Boyz issued an official statement: "Today, the court granted the artists' request for an injunction to suspend the validity of their exclusive contract. Consequently, the court has confirmed that the exclusive contract with the One Hundred label has been lawfully terminated and is no longer in effect."
