[theqoo] PARK SOOHONG, APOLOGIZES FO 'CAUSING NUISANCE BACKING OUT OF A FLIGHT', "THERE IS NO EXCUSE"

Context:

The nuisance and preferential treatment allegations against Park Soohong began with a post published on an online community on the 23rd. A review post claiming to have suffered after boarding the same Guam flight as Park Soohong spread. The author claimed that after boarding the plane, Park Soohong said he would get off when a child cried, and after luggage handling had already been carried out and the child stopped crying while waiting, he reversed his decision and said he would reboard. As a result, the airline had to go through the procedure of loading the luggage again, causing a departure delay of about an hour. As the post spread through online communities and social media, suspicions arose that he had received preferential treatment as a celebrity. CR: Chosunbiz

Full statement from Park Soohong:

“Hello, this is Park Soohong.

Recently, a problem occurred during the departure process of a flight because of my family, resulting in a delayed departure. We caused significant inconvenience by taking away many people’s valuable time, and also caused difficulties for the airline staff. I sincerely bow my head and apologize.

At the time, my child was crying so much immediately after boarding that we couldn’t even get seated, and I panicked and made an inexperienced judgment. I thought the child’s crying during the long flight would cause greater inconvenience to the other passengers, so I initially told a member of the cabin crew that we intended to get off the plane.

While waiting inside the aircraft, the child stopped crying, so I said that we wanted to board again. I failed to realize that this could significantly delay the process, including security procedures. This happened entirely because of my lack of knowledge about aviation-related procedures, and there is absolutely no excuse for my actions.

Once again, I sincerely bow my head and apologize to all the passengers and airline staff who suffered significant inconvenience because of my shortcomings.”

1. But the airline is more at fault there. Passengers are bound to make requests, after all. the problem lies with the airline for actually granting it

2. It's actually funny, considering this is the same online community that used to bash a female idol with thousands of hate comments just because she handed over her passport with one hand during a checkã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

3. Surprisingly, there are quite a few non-celebrity couples like this, too... I've noticed that many parents lose their sense of judgment when their children are involved.
The hard part is that the stress and the consequences end up falling on the people around them.
I think we really need to establish clear guidelines for situations like this

4. It's a well-written apology. I can totally see how someone would get flustered if a child was crying that much

5. Even without things like that, delays of 30 minutes to over an hour happen often...
Besides, he apologized sincerely. That should be enough

6. I saw the kid crying hysterically... It seemed like a bad situation, so I just let it slide... Of course, the people there had every right to be furious. That's exactly why Park Soohong apologized

7. It's not like anyone got hurt and a 30 min delay isn't exactly a serious issue. Even though an apology was issued, some people in the comments seem so mad at him. I just don't get it. It's not as if the person denied doing anything wrong. He admitted the mistake and apologized, so that should be the end of it

8. I don't understand how everyone is so understanding here...

9. Seems like this person will get shielded no matter what he does

10. It was a well-written apology and I understand the situation and can see how something like that could happen
