[Nate] CALLS FOR JENNIE TO "LEAVE ADIDAS" AND BOYCOTT CAMPAIGNS SPREAD... EVENTUALLY LEADS TO APOLOGY

Amidst demands from some international fans for BLACKPINK member Jennie to halt her collaboration, the fashion brand Adidas has issued an official apology regarding a separate, controversial advertisement in Israel.

According to reports from outlets such as the UK’s Fashion Times and The Times of Israel on the 9th, some international fans and netizens urged Jennie to cut ties with Adidas after her agency, OA Entertainment, released campaign photos for her first co-designed collection with the brand on the 7th.

Jennie launched her first collaborative design collection with Adidas, titled "adidas Originals by JENNIE." Adidas announced the collection on the 28th of last month, revealing that Jennie had participated as a co-designer. While Jennie has served as a model and ambassador for the brand for years, this marks the first time she has directly put her name to a product design. The collection was released globally on the 1st.

However, the timing of her agency's release of the campaign photos coincided with a period of growing international criticism and calls for a boycott regarding an Adidas advertisement in Israel.

Some netizens left comments on posts featuring Jennie, such as "Jennie, please leave this brand" and "Please distance yourself from Adidas", and demanded an end to the collaboration using the hashtag #BoycottAdidas. Fashion Times also reported that criticism regarding the partnership between Jennie and Adidas was emerging among some Blackpink fans.

The controversy stems from an advertisement for Adidas’s "Single Shoe Service" in Israel. This service allows consumers who need only one shoe to purchase a single unit for half the price of a standard pair; for the advertisement, Adidas Israel featured athletes with disabilities, including former Israeli soldier Shalev Biton.

Biton lost a leg in an anti-tank missile attack launched from the Gaza Strip in May 2021, while serving in the Israeli military's Nahal Infantry Brigade.

Pro-Palestinian activists criticized the decision to feature a former Israeli soldier in an advertisement for amputees, pointing to the large number of civilians and children in Gaza who had lost limbs due to the war, and calls to boycott Adidas began to spread.

As the controversy grew, Adidas issued a statement of apology on the 7th.

Adidas stated, “We are aware that images used in a recent local promotion in Israel have sparked concerns and strong reactions,” adding, “We had no intention of causing offense and apologize to those affected.” The company also explained that the advertisement in question was part of a promotion conducted by the local Israeli team and was not a global campaign.

However, as Jennie has expanded her relationship with Adidas from a standard ambassador to a co-designer through this collaboration, the fallout from the international boycott movement targeting the brand appears to be extending to her as well.

This is the best // It's warm // Ridiculous // I'm upset // I'm mad

The title is written like sh*t ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ It basically means that since a boycott of Adidas is spreading, triggered by an ad that seemed to justify Israel's invasion of Palestine, Jennie's fans are demanding she cut ties with the brand, right? But why is the title phrased like that? ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

The article's title is so weird. Jennie isn't at fault here. And why did they write it like Jennie was the one who apologized?

I was wondering what happened, and looking at the content of the article and the title, there's nothing really going on! Adidas is the one at fault, but why is the title blaming Jennie...

BlackPink thought that they could go each their own ways and earn all that money while neglecting the fans. Now they're getting canceled one after the other ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

The journalist's shame aside, it's been so long since people have stopped writing clickbaity titles...
