Song Mino of the group WINNER has received a suspended sentence of two years for violating the Military Service Act.
On the morning of the 1st, the Seoul Western District Court (Criminal Division 10) held a sentencing hearing for Song Mino and an individual identified as "A," both of whom were charged with violating the Military Service Act.
The court sentenced Song Mino to one year in prison, suspended for two years. Additionally, "A" was sentenced to ten months in prison, suspended for two years.
While there had been earlier speculation regarding the possibility of Song Mino facing renewed military service or actual imprisonment, the case drew attention when he received a suspended sentence instead.
During the final hearing held last April, the prosecution had sought a prison term of one year and six months for Song Mino. They also requested a one-year prison sentence for a co-defendant, identified as Mr. Lee.
Song Mino faced allegations of dereliction of duty during his service as a social service agent. He was accused of conspiring with A, the person responsible for managing his service, to be absent without leave for a total of 102 days while working at the Mapo-gu Facilities Management Corporation and a local community amenity facility between May 30, 2023, and December 2, 2024.
