"LISA revealed in her documentary that YG made her reshoot an entire dance practice video because she sang instead of rapping which damaged her confidence in singing for years.

she slowly got that confidence back during her one-year break from BLACKPINK."


"LISA shared that she once recorded herself singing a Bruno Mars song for a monthly evaluation at YG. although her vocal coach was very impressed with her voice, one of the YG mentors told her that she should focus on rap.

the situation made LISA start to doubt her own ability as a singer. out of fear of being eliminated, she ended up setting aside her passion for singing and began dedicating herself almost exclusively to rap.

that episode marked her for years and also influenced her trajectory as a solo artist. today, however, she feels much more confident to explore different sides of her art.

after the end of her one-year break, she returned to South Korea with the fear of being placed back into a “box” by YG. 

LISA made it clear how much she values her artistic freedom and this time, she doesn't want to give it up."

she also said that she wants her father to walk her down the aisle, but he's ill and she's scared."



LISA talked about how being a K-pop star is very restrictive. she shared that at YG Entertainment, she needed permission to go anywhere, couldn't go to nightclubs, meet friends, or travel. she said that the first time she went to a nightclub, she was 25 years old.

she also talked about dating, how K-pop idols can't date and how, when she was in relationships, she had to hide them or simply end them because she didn't want to harm BLACKPINK's popularity.

she mentioned that, if they find out you're dating, your popularity drops.



LISA also addressed the leaked trainee video and the n-word controversy.

she said she was very young, had just left Thailand, and English wasn’t her first language. the company required her to perform rap songs, and she didn’t understand the word’s history or that it was unacceptable.

she has since educated herself, understands the issue, and would never say it again.

LLLOUD wanted to issue an official statement, but YG opposed it. given the intense backlash and death threats she was already receiving, the team chose not to speak out so the situation wouldn’t escalate.



in her documentary, LISA and her family were seen discussing her contract with YG, and she mentioned that only one year remained on her deal with the agency.

it is said that these clips were filmed before the Deadline tour (…) it’s very unlikely LISA will renew with YG.


LISA mentions her BLACKPINK members and their support for each other as sisters:

 “They’re like my sisters, my family, and of course, even though we’re doing our solo stuff, we still text each other. Even though “Always LALISA” is coming out soon, they texted me that they can’t wait to watch it.”

1. Do you really think she could have made that much money if she hadn’t debuted as a K-pop idol under YG and had just been a Thai singer?ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹
If she hated that kind of control so much, she could’ve debuted in Thailand. Or maybe if she were a better singer than Rose. If Lisa had been that good at singing, they wouldn’t have made her rap in the first place. Like, what?
And YG is actually one of the more free/lenient companies among the major K-pop agencies. Even that was too difficult for her, and now this newly rich person has so many complaints.
Of course there are people who don’t like seeing foreign members succeed as K-pop idols and then criticize Korea and Korean companies. That’s only natural.
Lisa is allowed to complain about the Korean system, but are we not allowed to say anything after watching Lisa’s documentary?

3. If she had simply been a Thai singer, she wouldn’t have been able to achieve global growth like she has now while being a Louis Vuitton ambassador. There are advantages that come with it, so there are also things you have to put up with.
Either way, I guess BLACKPINK isn’t going to renew their contracts.
Honestly, wasn’t YG also responsible for making her look pretty in the first place?? You know it’s true. Look at her past photos.

4. I understand everything except the part about dating/relationships at clubs. As for the rap and vocals part, isn’t it understandable that Lisa would have felt that way from her perspective? It must have been really confusing for her when she was a trainee

6.  But when I listen to BLACKPINK’s songs, I actually prefer Lisa’s rap to her singing. I think YG did a good job with that, but I guess it must have been difficult for her personally...

9. Isn’t this just a pretty general story? Lisa herself wanted to sing and felt confident about her vocals since her trainee days, but there were a lot of other trainees who were better, and the company suggested that she try rapping instead of focusing on vocals. So she started rapping, and as she continued doing that, she lost confidence in her singing, but then regained that confidence while doing solo work. As an idol, she had a lot of restrictions in various ways, but doing solo work gave her more freedom. One of those things was dating... Isn’t this basically a story that applies to idols everywhere? I don’t really see how she’s putting down K-pop or bashing YG or anything like that... Why are the comments reacting like this?

10. She barely said anything, so why is everyone making such a big deal out of it? I was shocked to see that she received d**th threats. I heard her father is ill as well, so I hope he gets better as soon as possible.

11. Her rap is way better... If you want freedom, you should've never been an idol 

12. But her image was only made through YG's training. Didn't she want to make all this money after all?

13. The prime example of why we cannot debut foreigners as idols. They can't understand our culture, and they have a hard time with the Korean idol life
