[theqoo] RM DONATES 100 MILLION WON TO THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF KOREA FOR PURCHASE OF ARTIFACT

(100 M won = ~72K USD)

RM (real name Kim Nam-joon) of BTS has generously donated 100 million won to the National Museum of Korea for the purpose of acquiring artifacts for its collection.

The National Museum of Korea announced on the 30th that RM donated the 100 million won on the 29th to the National Museum of Korea Foundation, the museum's supporting organization. The funds are designated for the Foundation to use in the future to purchase and donate artifacts to the museum.

RM, who was appointed as a global ambassador for the National Museum of Korea last June, said, "I am happy to support the museum. I will continue to join in efforts to promote the museum and our culture."

The National Museum of Korea Foundation engages in various support activities, including artifact acquisition, academic sponsorship, and the development of museum facilities. It has previously purchased and donated items such as a Joseon Dynasty "Mother-of-Pearl Box with Lotus Vine Design" (2023) and a piece of "choso" (cursive script) calligraphy by the renowned early Joseon calligrapher Hwang Gi-ro (2024).

RM has consistently engaged in cultural and artistic philanthropy; notably, he donated 100 million won to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation on two separate occasions, in 2021 and 2022, expressing his hope that the funds would assist in the preservation, restoration, and utilization of Korean cultural heritage located abroad.
