[theqoo] A VERY POPULAR SURGERY PROCEDURE LATELY

Waist ring surgery is a procedure that involves removing a large amount of fat from the waist and lower thighs and transplanting it to areas such as the pelvis and chest along with fillers to dramatically make the straight body lines characteristic of Asians appear more curvy.

"By extracting unnecessary waist fat"

"It makes the waist look even slimmer"

"By transplanting the extracted fat into the underdeveloped pelvis and hips"

In the past, people only removed waist fat, but nowadays, they remove all the waist fat and inject fillers into the hips to make their lines look as curvy as Westerners'.

Since the majority of people in Korea lack hips, it seemed like there wasn't as much interest in these procedures or waist and hip contours compared to the US.

However, recently, if you just do a quick search, you can find a truckload of influencers openly bragging about getting sponsored procedures, with tons of comments pouring in; it has suddenly become incredibly popular.

"Because I have a straight pelvis"

"Whenever I wear skin tight clothes..."

"The clothes didn't fit well and I didn't have the right vibe"

Thanks to this, if you look at Instagram or the media these days, there has been a huge increase in Korean women confidently posting photos and videos wearing daring clothes that Western women would typically wear, emphasizing non-Asian hips and body lines, that were never seen in Korea.

"After a week!"

"I'm so satisfied!"

1. Do they want to become the Kardashians?

2. I'm seeing a lot of people do that among celebrities already

3. You can literally do that with workout... But it'll probably take you about 3 yearsã…

4. These days, celebrities seem to just shave down their facial bones, and a lot of influencers have such artificial-looking faces. It feels like ordinary people who see this end up developing mental health issues, and their standards of beauty get distorted. I think this has gotten worse as social media has become part of daily life and communication has shifted to being image-focused.

5. I'll just keep living with my choding straight body

6. So it was plastic surgery? No wonder I’ve been seeing such a sudden rise in that body type, people really do get a lot of work done

7. Average people don't usually wear clothes that reveal their figure like that, do they?

8. I have body image issues, so I looked into that procedure, but I got scared off when I saw there was a risk of fat cell necrosis. I decided not to do it and am just living with my issues, fear won out over the obsession

9. It's way too obvious though... ã…

10. It only looks pretty when you build your body through workout... Paying money to get this just looks awkward
