It has been three years since the installation of CCTV cameras in hospital operating rooms became mandatory. However, some of the footage recorded by these cameras has been exposed on illegal overseas websites. The names of some hospitals are even visible in the videos, and the majority of these facilities are OB/GYN clinics. The police are currently investigating the matter.

These are illegal overseas websites that are easily found via Google searches.
A search for "hospital" yields dozens of results.
Most feature sensational titles and descriptions, such as "hacked footage from Korean hospital IP cameras."
The videos capture not only areas like consultation rooms and waiting areas but also graphic scenes of surgeries.
At least 100 individuals have been identified whose faces or bodies are exposed in these videos.
Some listings even reveal the specific names of private clinics or university hospitals; the majority are OB/GYN clinics.
We analyzed the situation with the help of experts.
[Kim Myung-ju / Professor, Division of Intelligent Information Security, Seoul Women's University: When the camera is recording, there is a timestamp displayed, as well as text included to identify the specific room where it was installed. It seems safe to conclude that the footage originated from an IP camera installed inside the hospital.]
While the site is believed to be hosted on servers in the U.S., there are indications that its web address has been changed multiple times to evade enforcement efforts.
Although the police recently launched an investigation and took measures to block domestic access, the site remains easily accessible through workarounds such as using bypass methods.
[Kim Myung-ju, Professor of Intelligent Information Security at Seoul Women's University: Even if a site is blocked, it can sometimes suddenly appear after repeated attempts to access it; technically, it is a situation where a 100% perfect block is impossible.]
Since the implementation of the Medical Service Act amendment three years ago, CCTV systems, including IP cameras, have been installed in the operating rooms of all hospitals nationwide, with the exception of those currently closed for business.
Calls are being made for measures to prevent further incidents.
[Heo Jong-sik / Member, National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee: Would people feel safe visiting a hospital? We need to urge a comprehensive review and re-examination of hospital security issues.]
