Actress Han Sunhwa drew a mixed response with a styling choice for the Busan International Film Festival that fell just short of fully showcasing her natural charm.
On the 6th, Han attended the red carpet event for the opening ceremony of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, held at the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu, Busan.
For the occasion, she chose a mini-dress densely embellished with gold and silver accents. The garment caught the eye with its shimmering material, covering everything from the high neckline and short sleeves down to the hem. She extended the glamorous look all the way to her feet by pairing the dress with embellished gold strappy sandals.
The issue was an overload of flashy elements. With a large embellishment around the neck layered over an intricate dress pattern, the outfit drew the eye before the wearer's face did. The heaviness of the garment overshadowed Han Sunhwa’s signature clear and fresh image.
The silhouette was also disappointing. The dress fell loosely along the torso without defining the waistline; combined with a high, closed neckline and short sleeves, this created an effect that made her upper body look somewhat bulky. Although the short hemline revealed her legs, the overall look failed to create a balanced, flattering proportion.
Her hairstyle also failed to harmonize with the dress. Although she wore her hair down with a side part and loose, voluminous waves, the overlap of her hair and the dress's embellishments around her neck and shoulders created a cluttered, stifling look. Given the bold detailing of the dress, a sleeker hairstyle would likely have better highlighted her face and neckline.
While Han Sunhwa’s radiant smile remained as charming as ever, her outfit and hairstyle failed to fully complement that appeal. It was a disappointing red carpet look, one that dazzled with sparkle but lacked the balance needed to truly enhance her beauty.
Meanwhile, Han Sunhwa appeared in director Kim Jong-kwan’s film 'Day and Night Are for Each Other', the opening film of this year’s Busan International Film Festival.
