[Nate] KPOP DEMON HUNTERS' EJAE AND SAM KIM'S SURPRISE WEDDING

KPop Demon Hunters singer and composer EJAE (Kim Eun-jae) married long-time partner and producer Sam Kim (Samuel Kim), have tied the knot, moving their wedding date up.

According to the American fashion magazine Vogue on the 20th, the couple held a garden wedding on the 17th at Stage 28 in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, a month earlier than their originally planned ceremony, which was set to take place this November in California, USA. The event had not been previously announced to the public.

The decision to reschedule was driven by a busy itinerary following the film’s success, as well as the couple’s desire to incorporate their Korean roots into the celebration.

The couple briefly paused their wedding preparations due to a long-term promotional tour and the awards season following the announcement of their engagement in June 2025, a period that also saw the unveiling of the project 'KPop Demon Hunters.' They eventually finalized their wedding plans about four months later, opting to hold the ceremony in Seoul.

The venue, Stage 28, is located on the former residential site of the couple’s maternal grandfather, veteran actor Shin Young-kyun (99), and currently houses the Shin Young-kyun Arts & Culture Foundation.

EJAE is the child of Shin Hye-jin, daughter of Shin Young-kyun and Vice Chair of Seyoung Enterprise, and chose this location for its deep personal significance; it is a place filled with childhood memories of her grandfather and also served as the wedding venue for her older brother.

The main wedding ceremony, held on the 17th, took place in the outdoor garden at Stage 28, featuring a nature-inspired theme. EJAE wore a custom tulle gown by designer Danielle Frankel, accented with heirloom jewelry. For the reception, which extended into a greenhouse, she transitioned into a dress by Zac Posen, followed by a mini dress from Milla Nova. Sam Kim wore a double-breasted tuxedo from Bhambi's Custom Tailors in New York, later switching to a custom white tuxedo by Zac Posen.

The reception program included congratulatory speeches delivered in both languages, a live performance by the wedding band 'After Eight', with a setlist personally curated by the couple, and an outdoor tent serving Korean-style street food. Following the official reception, the couple and a small group of guests continued the celebration in Itaewon.

The two first met during a music session in May 2017. Since then, they have built a life together over the past eight years, evolving into both creative partners and romantic companions, and have made their home in Brooklyn, New York.

EJAE, a former SM Entertainment trainee, is a singer-songwriter who has worked on tracks for prominent K-pop artists, including composing Red Velvet’s "Psycho" as well as aespa’s "Drama" and "Armageddon." She gained global attention as the lead vocalist for HUNTR/X, a virtual girl group featured in 'KPop Demon Hunters', and for her contributions to the project’s primary soundtrack. Sam Kim is active as a producer, composer, and computer programmer.
