[theqoo] I'M A 99'ER AND WHENEVER I LOOK AT IG STORIES OR KATALK STORIES, ALL I SEE ARE WEDDING PHOTOS. WHO SAID SMART WOMEN DON'T GET MARRIED ANYMORE?

"People from the provinces who moved to Seoul and got into top-tier universities here
Their social circles are full of professionals (law students, med students), people at major corporations, or employees at top-tier public enterprises...
Who says people aren't getting married these days f*ck
Everyone at my office is taking parental leave and getting married one after another
I’m constantly shelling out money for wedding gifts, my bank balance keeps taking a hit."

- I live in Namchon, and among the men around me, as long as they are decent, they all seem to get married before 34
- I work for a large corporation, and there isn't a single unmarried person here. It's stressful living with people asking when I'm going to get married if I don't; the idea that high-income earners don't marry seems like complete nonsense to me because people naturally pursue the mainstream and normalcy.
- Me too... They all ended up getting married
- It seems like they just get ahead quickly because they are capable and pursue normalcy in high-income professional jobs or large corporations. Since they are all the same anyway, they should get ahead a little younger.
- I'm also born in '97. It started slowly last year, but it seems like a lot is going by this year. However, both the men and women seem to have settled down, bought houses, and are in a stable state.

original post: here

1. Hardly anyone in my circle got married in their 20s,
but by their 30s, I’d say more than half are married now
From what I’ve experienced, there’s been a huge surge in weddings since around 2023-2024
Honestly, I have no idea how much I end up spending on wedding gifts in a single year... Ha

2. Anecdotal evidence from your own circle doesn't mean much, if the statistics say a lot of people aren't getting married, then that’s the reality.
Especially among women who are highly educated and come from well-off families. They often just choose not to get married

3. I'm a 89'er and 99'ers are getting married so fast ã…œã…œã…œã…œã…œã…œã…œ I feel like everyone is getting married once they turn 30

4. When a man has money and a home, and actively pursues marriage, he ends up getting married

5. I was born in '93 and live in Seoul. Including myself, all my friends who attend universities in Seoul and work for big corporations are married, both men and women

6. This is why people need to stop hanging out in communities

7. I was born in '93, and among the people I know, it’s about a 50/50 split, half are unmarried, and half are married. All the friends who got married had a child within one to two years of tying the knot

8. It is true that people with higher incomes have higher marriage rates. It is also true that those with lower incomes tend to have more children

9. Just let people live their own happy lives, don’t go bothering those who say they aren’t interested in marriages.  Besides, there are plenty of women who haven’t gotten married, and anyway, the statistics speak for themselves

10. I work at a mid-sized company, and looking just at my own workplace, everyone in their 30s is married, every single one of them
