[theqoo] (BREAKING) STRAY KIDS IS #1 ON BILLBOARD 200 CHART

The group has just entered the Billboard 200 for the very first time in their career—and they couldn’t have done it in a bigger way.

On March 28 local time, Billboard announced that Stray Kids’ latest mini album “ODDINARY” had debuted at No. 1 on its famous Top 200 Albums chart, its weekly ranking of the most popular albums in the United States.

In addition to scoring their first-ever chart entry on the Billboard 200, Stray Kids has now become only the third Korean artist in history ever to top the chart. The only other K-pop artists to have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 to date are BTS and SuperM.

“ODDINARY” also achieved the biggest U.S. sales week of any album released thus far in 2022. According to Luminate (formerly MRC Data), “ODDINARY” earned a total of 110,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on March 24. The album’s total score consisted of 103,000 traditional album sales—the most of any 2022 album—and 6,500 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units—which translates to 10.09 million on-demand audio streams over the course of the week.

Additionally, “ODDINARY” is only the 13th mostly non-English-language album in Billboard history ever to reach No. 1.

Just a few days ago, Stray Kids also entered both the United Kingdom’s Official Albums Chart and Official Singles Chart for the first time with “ODDINARY” and its title track “MANIAC” respectively. (The Official charts are widely considered the U.K. equivalent to Billboard’s U.S. charts.)
