[instiz] SUNGKYUNKWAN UNIVERSITY, IDOL 'SEVENTEEN' LOGO PLAGIARISM SUSPICION GROWS

A logo design used at a festival at Sungkyunkwan University has been claimed to have plagiarized the album logo of idol group Seventeen. The designer who created the logo also criticized the situation on his social networking service (SNS). As the controversy grew, Sungkyunkwan University later sent an apology to the designer.

Sungkyunkwan University sold tattoo stickers and cheer slogans with the allegedly plagiarized logo for 4,000 won and 7,000 won, respectively. "The lines are also very similar," "If you look at each letter, you can see that some of them were literally cut out," and "I can't believe they sold them." One user, B, who works as a designer, criticized saying, "I'm in the industry, but I think it's fair to say that this is almost a copy."

In response to the controversy on various online communities and social media, the Design Promotion Bureau of Sungkyunkwan University sent an apology email to the designer. However, the official poster on social media has not been modified or deleted.

1. Ha.. the creator is a saint...

2. Using a plagiarized work for commercial purposes definitely warrants a compensation..ㅋㅋㅋㅋ These kids have no sense.

3. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ If they have an Instagram, they should also post an apology there. Why are they like this? Is there nothing on their student forum? So embarrassing

4. Why are the student councils acting like this? Pleaseㅜ

5. Am I the only one who doesn't find this special? This kind of thing seems pretty commonㅠ

6. Wow, this is way too similar

7. They made money off of it, quietly sent an email apology to the original creator, and that’s it? They promoted and made money off of a plagiarized work. So this is how you steal ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

8. The school apologized, but ㅋㅋ People saying the fans are overreacting didn't even read the post ㅋㅋ

9. How is it the fans’ fault? The fans didn't even know about it until the designer called them out on Instagramㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

10. Seems like people really have no awareness about copyrights lately
