[theqoo] (TRIGGER WARNING: DEATH) THE FIRST SCENE IN AESPA'S 'SUPERNOVA' WAS AN HOMAGE TO "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SU*C*DE"

The first scene in Supernova
Karina falling on a car in front of a building

Karina sleeping on top of a car, then waking up to start singing.

This image is actually an homage to Evelyn McHale's last photograph, which has been called “the most beautiful su*c*de in the world.”

Evelyn McHale was a 23-year-old ordinary American woman who jumped to her death on May 1, 1947, from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, leaving the following su*c*de note:

"I don’t want anyone in or out of my family to see any part of me. Could you destroy my body by cremation? I beg of you and my family that they don’t have any service for me or remembrance of me.

My fiance asked me to marry him in June. I don’t think I would make a good wife for anyone. He is much better off without me.

Tell my father, I have too many of my mother’s tendencies."

A passing student witnessed the fall and snapped a photo of Evelyn. The photo is too beautiful to be a picture of someone who fell 86 stories to her death, and it goes viral across the United States..

This is the photo below

It's not gory or anything, but it's still someone's body, so be careful.

(original photo from TheQoo here)

Her body is so intact it's hard to believe she fell from the 86th floor, right?

The car underneath Evelyn absorbed all of the impact.

Contrary to Evelyn's wishes to be forgotten after this photo was released, she became incredibly famous after her death.

It inspired countless artists like Andy Warhol and David Bowie, and is still frequently paid homage to in movies, TV shows, and other popular media.
Evelyn died the day after her boyfriend proposed to her.

The boyfriend never married anyone else and lived alone until he died in 2007.

1. Ugh... humans are so weird....

2. I just don't understand how anyone can call su*c*de "beautiful" and praise it... Even if you think that it's art, it's still taboo...

3. Why would anyone do that?

4. Did the director say themselves that it was an homage? I don't know anything so I'm just asking... I thought that she just crashed the car because she's an alien and she's heavy

5. Ah.. I knew that I've seen this scene somewhere... so this waas it

6. But when I saw that scene, I did think of su*c*de... maybe that's why

7. This is so creepyã… ã… ã… ã… ã… ã… ã… ã…  and bizarreã… ã… ã… ã… ã… ã… ã…  the picture is so shocking... I know that there was a trigger warning and that my curiosity got the best of me but... my damn curiosityã… ã…

8. Rest in peace...

9. This is kinda disgusting

10. This is such a popular photo that there are already quite a few references made...ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ the reactions here are so sensitive
