A controversial rookie group has emerged in the music industry.
The girl group BadVillain, produced by MC Mong, has shown a meteoric rise, surpassing NewJeans’ records with their debut single “Overstep” released on the 3rd. The music video for their title track "BadVillain" garnered 8.45 million views within 12 hours of its release. This surpasses the 5 million views that NewJeans' "Bubble Gum" music video achieved in the same time frame.
As of 4 PM on the 8th, just five days after their debut, the music video for “BadVillain” has recorded 32.15 million views. At this rate, it is expected to soon catch up to the 43.43 million views of “Bubble Gum,” which has been out for a month.
BadVillain is a new girl group introduced by Big Planet Made Entertainment three years after its establishment. The group consists of seven talented members, including Emma from Mnet’s “Street Woman Fighter,” Chloe Young from 1Million, HU'E and YunSeo who gained recognition from MBC’s “My Teenage Girl,” and the “secret weapons” INA, Vin and Kelly.
The rapid rise of BadVillain can be attributed to the strong support from their agency and the members' charm and talent. It is reported that Cha Ga-won, the major shareholder of Big Planet Made Entertainment and co-founder of its parent company ONE HUNDRED, made substantial investments to nurture this girl group.
