"This is something a guy who used to run a fairly prominent company once said to me:
“Dongwook says talk so freely because he doesn't have an agency.”
Hello?! These days, even idols from major agencies speak their minds confidently.
Singer JK Kim Dongwook, known as a prominent conservative-leaning celebrity, openly welcomed the political controversy surrounding junior singer Karina.
On the 28th, JK Kim Dongwook posted a message to his social media story that appeared to reference the situation involving Karina.
He began by saying, “This is something a guy who used to run a fairly prominent company once said to me: ‘Dongwook says political things so freely because he doesn’t have an agency.’”
He then added, “Hello?! These days, even idols from major entertainment companies speak their minds confidently.”
Although JK Kim Dongwook did not explicitly mention Karina by name, the timing of the post amid the recent political controversy surrounding her suggests it was made with her in mind.
The controversy began the previous day, when Karina posted a photo to her social media account. In the photo, she was wearing a jumper that included the color red, with a red number “2” printed on the right side of her chest.
The addition of a rose emoji in the post led some online users to speculate that the image alluded to the so-called “Rose Election” (a term used for snap presidential elections in South Korea) and candidate number 2, raising suspicions of a political message.
Amid growing concerns that active idols should remain politically neutral, Karina ultimately deleted the post after the controversy intensified.
