Did everyone hear that QWER has been chosen as the new models for Woori Bank?
Recently, controversy has been stirring both inside and outside the financial industry regarding Woori Bank's latest promotional strategy. The issue stems from the bank selecting a girl group made up of former BJs with a history of provocative content as models for a youth-targeted financial product.
Parents of teenagers have expressed frustration, saying, “It’s absurd to use someone as a model when a simple search of their name on a portal site brings up a flood of embarrassing photos.” Even some Woori Bank employees criticized the move, calling it “an embarrassment to the company, to the point where it’s hard to even say we work here.”
One comment summed up the sentiment: “A former BJ known for revealing outfits becoming the face of a trusted financial institution, especially for a youth product? It’s unthinkable.”
On June 4, Woori Bank announced the launch of the ‘Teen Teen Card QWER Edition’ via its official website. The Teen Teen Card is a prepaid debit card for youths aged 7 to 18 and can be issued without a bank account. For children aged 7 to 13, issuance requires parental consent and a phone number registered under the child’s name. For those aged 14 to 18, it can be issued instantly with a phone number in their own name.
The QWER Edition of the Teen Teen Card comes in three different designs, all featuring promotional photos of the girl group QWER, allowing users to choose the design they prefer.
