[PC stories/KPOP takes] KPOP FANS REALLY SHIELD IDOLS TOO MUCH

Maybe I didn't notice it earlier because I don't really pay attention to useless fanwars but this year really showed just how far a huge amount of fans are willing to go to defend their idols.

I won't name names but looking at many scandals that happened this year (from racial slurs and posting conservative dog whistles to engaging in prostitution), fans really love downplaying issues and making excuses to defend their idols. I'm not saying these scandals are similar or comparing the idols involved so don't twist my words but what I've noticed about these particular cases is that their fans defended them like their lives depended on it.

The excuses I saw for these controversies were almost funny to me because it's so clear these people don't care about the issue itself, they just care about clearing their idol's name. Saying "it's not that serious" and acting like people that are upset are just some bitter haters is very disrespectful to people that were upset because of their actions. These fans are willing to completely ignore context as long as someone else on twitter or tiktok said "____ is innocent and getting hate for no reason! let's protect our baby" and if the idols "apologized" they take that apology like a scientific fact or something proven in court. I'm tired of these fans acting like their problematic idols are the victims of online hate who did nothing wrong, when it's actually just the consequences of their own actions that people have the right to be mad about. If they wanna keep supporting someone despite their problematic behavior that's fine, it's their right to stan whoever they want to, but acting like it's no big deal and straight up lying and spreading misinformation about the situation on social media just to defend someone they stan is pathetic.
