[PC stories/KPOP takes] WHY ARE PEOPLE SO QUICK TO THROW AWAY THEIR MORALITY FOR KPOP?

This is embarrassing to admit but I recently got together with some online friends to start an astroturfed troll campaign against a certain K-pop artist on X. I won't say who they are but let's just say while they had a lot of scandals they didn't do anything *that* bad. Honestly it was pretty fun, but that's what scary. I don't actually know anything about this artist personally, but I still had fun trolling people into attacking them. Why is it so easy to detach yourself from the fact that idols are also just regular people? It's not just people like me, even fans do this in their own twisted way. They defend this artist like they know them personally too and like a personal attack against them is one against themselves and they'll say horrible things in their idol's defence. Even though the person they're making death threats for doesn't even know they exist. Overall, I just wonder what it is about K-pop that makes people act like this?
