Chinese actor Zhang Yiyang was executed by firing squad for m**dering his 16-year-old girlfriend. This is the first case of a celebrity being executed in China, where the d**th penalty is in effect.

According to a recently released notice from the Xianyang Intermediate People's Court in Shaanxi Province, China, Zhang Yiyang was sentenced to d**th on December 18 last year and executed immediately after.

On February 26, 2022, Zhang Yiyang st*bbed his then-16-year-old girlfriend several times with a weapon, causing her to d*e from excessive bleeding and asphyxiation.

According to the investigation records, Zhang Yiyang, who was 30 years old at the time, started dating the victim in September 2021 and continued to control her through emotional control (PUA), including threats of self-h**m and s**cide. When the victim tried to end her relationship with Zhang Yiyang, he lured her into the forest under the pretext of “celebrating her birthday” and committed the crime.

Immediately after the crime, Zhang Yiyang returned home, washed or disposed of her clothes and weapons, and attempted suicide at a hotel, but was arrested after an employee reported him. On the day of the incident, Zhang Yiyang reportedly posted on his Weibo, “No matter what happens in the future, I will love him.”

The Xianyang Intermediate People's Court of Shaanxi Province sentenced him to d**th, stating that "his motive was malicious, his methods were extremely cruel, and he showed no signs of remorse." Zhang Yiyang appealed, but it was dismissed, and it is known that the death penalty was carried out immediately on the day of the first trial verdict.
