[theqoo] THE MOVIE WHO SEEMS TO BE THE LAST HOPE FOR KOREAN BLOCKBUSTER FILMS

Sorry for the over the top title, but I wrote it because the title is

Hope" by Director Na Hong-jin (of The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, and The Wailing)

In the outskirts of a remote port village, residents of Hopo Port begin to notice strange occurrences. Before long, they find themselves in a desperate fight for survival against something they have never encountered before.

The film features an alien theme and is set in the 1970s–1980s.

Na Hong-jin had previously shared an image of the alien.

The officially announced production budget is reportedly in the 50 billion won (36M USD) range, making it the most expensive Korean film ever.

Currently, the most expensive is Alienoid Part 2 with 37 billion won (26M USD).

Even if the 44 billion won Snowpiercer is counted as a Korean film, Hope would still rank first (32M USD).

The cast is super luxurious

Hwang Jungmin, Jo Insung, Jung Hoyeon, Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Um Tae-goo, Lee Kyu-hyung, Moon Seok, Lee Re, and more.

They say it’s planned as a trilogy, but it’s uncertain whether an alien-themed story will do well in Korea.

I really hope it turns out amazing and becomes a huge hit. I'm so looking forward to it.
