[theqoo] IVE JANG WONYOUNG'S CHINESE FANDOM STATEMENT

As a young woman who is not yet 21, Jang Wonyoung has consistently served as a role model for countless girls with her self-assurance, confidence, and healthy image.

However, at today’s ceremonial first pitch event, the outfit Starship dressed her in sparked intense outrage among fans.

The outfit was excessively tight and overly revealing, severely restricting Wonyoung’s natural movement during the event.
Despite the event being based on a sports concept, while other members wore comfortable and loose-fitting clothes, only Jang Wonyoung was dressed in a tight, short outfit with a deep neckline, disregarding not only her comfort but also the overall harmony with the event’s theme.

Since Jang Wonyoung turned 20, it feels as though Starship has been waiting for the moment to push a “se*y” image onto her.
Why is a forced and provocative image continually imposed on someone like Wonyoung, who values self-love and prefers a natural, comfortable personal style?

The true purpose of stage outfits should be to help artists perform more comfortably and confidently.
Outfits should never restrict an idol’s movement or be reduced to mere tools for marketing.
Even more so, they should never be used as an excuse by the agency to sacrifice Wonyoung’s comfort for the sake of media attention.

Over the past seven years, Jang Wonyoung has built her image of confidence, self-discipline, self-love, and professionalism through her own efforts.
Especially this year, she has showcased a wide variety of styles through numerous advertisements and activities, demonstrating her versatility to the public.

Even the most modest styles become a topic of discussion when worn by her, not because they are provocative, but because of her own unique charm and confidence.

Jang Wonyoung does not need a “se*y” label to stand out. She is already one of the most radiant and influential female idols in South Korea.

We believed that, especially now with so many new ads and solo activities, Starship would respect Jang Wonyoung’s personal career path and long-term vision.
But we keep witnessing the same pattern:
Under short-sighted planning by the company, her styling still receives excessive attention compared to other members, and inappropriate concepts are repeatedly pushed onto her.

While Starship continues to profit off Jang Wonyoung’s looks and influence, they ignore the voices of fans and fail to respect her individuality and style.

As fans, we have one sincere wish:

That Jang Wonyoung can live according to her own preferences.
That she will not be objectified or used merely as a tool for buzz.
That she can feel free, comfortable, fully protected, and respected in front of all cameras.

To Starship, we ask the following:
- Respect Jang Wonyoung’s preferred clothing style.
- Carefully consider the balance between event concepts and wardrobe choices.
- Stop the styling disparity between members.
- Do not continue to force a "se*y" image onto a young female artist.
- Provide Jang Wonyoung with more professional, healthy, and comfortable styling.
