[PC Stories/KPOP takes] WHY DO SOME KPOP STANS HAVE SUCH EXTREMELY NEGATIVE REACTIONS TO DATING RUMORS?

Whenever I see some unconfirmed dating rumor that seems realistic I think to myself "it looks like it's real so good for them, I'm happy for them if it's true" and go on with my day.

I just can't understand the mentality of those people leaving hate comments on someone's instagram after seeing stuff like that. Do these people think they genuinely have a chance with idols who don't know they exist? Do they want them to be single because they feel like they owe it to them (like I've seen some korean fans do when reacting to confirmed or rumored couples)? What do they think they are accomplishing by sending hate and threats to a potential (or confirmed) partner of a person they stan and supposedly care for?

In my opinion, V and Jennie obviously dated (I don't know if they still are and it's none of my business to assume anything without actual proof) so it's pretty funny and interesting seeing the amount of their fans who have gaslighted themselves into believing they never dated.

I think this is why the "it's hard to confirm since it's the artist's private life" is such a popular response to dating rumors in kpop because it lets everyone believe whatever they want to. When something is quite obvious, it's not like it needs a company's confirmation to spell it out for everyone, most people get it and have normal reactions anyway, and there are some fans who still don't even believe official confirmations so why bother with that. It's really weird that such a huge amount of people can be in denial and delusional about something.

And V and Jennie aren't the only example of unconfirmed dating rumors that don't even need a confirmation. Maybe an even more ridiculous one is Lisa and her boyfriend: they've been spotted together like a 100 times and they aren't even hiding their relationship, but some of Lisa's fans will still somehow come up with some of the funniest excuses I ever heard (like they could be just friends).

There's other examples that come to mind but I think this was enough to get the point across - some stans would rather act oblivious to real proof than admit their fav idol is dating someone their parasocial stans don't approve of.
