[theqoo] BTS SUGA, POSTS A PHOTO ON IG FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2 YEARS AFTER DUI AND 5 BILLION WON DONATION

BTS member Suga (real name Min Yoongi, 32) is drawing attention after posting on social media for the first time in two years.

On the 22nd, Suga uploaded several photos to his social media account without any caption. The photos show him wearing black clothing and playing the guitar, among other scenes.

This marks Suga’s first post since August 25, 2023, making it a two-year gap. Fans have responded enthusiastically to his return.

Suga began his alternative service as a social service worker in September 2023 and was discharged this past June.

Notably, Suga was involved in a controversy in August of last year when he was found by police in a drunken state after falling off an electric scooter in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. At the time, his blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.227%, well above the license revocation threshold of 0.08%. He was fined 15 million won (11K USD) through a summary judgment.

Following the incident, Suga issued a handwritten apology letter, stating:
“My thoughtless actions have hurt the people who care about me. I will live with regret and work hard to never repeat such a mistake.”

Even after his discharge, he apologized again to fans, saying:
“I sincerely apologize for the disappointment and concern caused by what happened last year. What pains me most is knowing that I hurt the hearts of my fans.”

Right after his discharge, it was revealed that Suga had donated 5 billion won (3.7M USD).

In June, Severance Hospital announced that it would establish the “Min Yoongi Treatment Center” to support the treatment and social independence of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, funded by Suga’s donation. The 5 billion won donation is the largest ever made to Yonsei Medical Center by a celebrity.

Suga didn’t stop at just donating, it was later revealed that from March to June, he also volunteered on weekends, personally spending time with children on the autism spectrum.

Meanwhile, BTS is currently working on a new album, aiming for a full group comeback early next year.

1. I actually think it's okay that he tried to at least apologize with a 5 billion won donation, I hope it sets a precedent. There are way too many people who commit worse crimes and shamelessly carry on.

2. Honestly, I can’t stand the fans shielding him. It makes  him even more unlikable. Just because he donated doesn’t mean the DUI disappears. People have literally d**d from getting hit by scooters, and yet people are joking about “riding a little scooter”, ridiculous

3. It’s hypocritical, but still… since it wasn’t a car and he only hurt himself, I think the positive impact of the 5 billion donation on society is greater. So I don’t have strong feelings about it. There are so many people out there who did worse and are still active, so Suga almost looks like a saint in comparison

4. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ His fangirls are probably getting ready to use that 5 billion to shut people up ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

5. At least they made him donate 5 billion to pretend to show remorse, way better than the majority who come back shamelessly with nothing. If that money goes toward saving lives, it’s worth it

6. Let’s go full-group comeback! Bring that money back!

7. That guy never reflected at all. He drank and drove while serving as a public service worker. Never even properly took time off. Honestly, people are just obsessed with money, if paying a fine makes your crime go away, then what are we doing?

8. Hyboongie is trying to use his 5 billion to mediaplay ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

9. I'll always be disappointed...

10. 5 billion, that's just crazy how much money he has
