[theqoo] "NEVER GOING BACK"... INDUSTRY TURNS ITS BACK TO W KOREA'S CONTROVERSIAL PARTY

Many management agencies share the same sentiment. ‘I don't know how we can preserve the original purpose of the breast cancer awareness campaign going forward, but under the current circumstances, it's absolutely impossible to participate,’ they voiced loudly. ‘Seeing this situation unfold, it's the celebrities who are subjected to abuse and ridicule, while Doosan Magazine hides behind the scenes without uttering a word. It's utterly frustrating.’

Another manager stated, ‘The current perception is extremely negative. There are fans giving us sharp looks, asking “Why did you send them to that event?” If we go next year, the countless negative articles and the public's unfavourable gaze directed at our celebrities... just imagining it is unpleasant.’ They added, ‘We want the donation details currently under controversy to be transparently disclosed quickly.’

The event held on the 15th was titled “Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign”, yet no trace of this purpose could be found anywhere this time. Celebrities smiled broadly while sipping champagne, and some appeared visibly intoxicated.

Park Jaebum performed his song “Body”. 'Body' contains lyrics such as: “I want to get introduced to your chest's twins Twins-twins,”, “Your hips seem imported If you're hot, take a little more off”, “I'm curious about the taste of your luscious natural peach and watermelons”, “Inside the club, it's already Animal Farm”, “You gather all the h*rn* males and play them like a trainer”. The event was organized as a campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer, but it sparked controversy due to inappropriate lyrics like “your chest”, leading to an eventual apology.

Donations are also problematic. Lee Soojin, a member of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, disclosed W Korea's sponsorship records. Donations submitted through the Ministry of Health and Welfare for 18 years total 315.69 million won. This differs significantly from the 1.1 billion won disclosed by Doosan Magazine. The issue is that Doosan Magazine received sponsorship from numerous brands under the banner of “donations” and “charity”. It remains unclear exactly how these funds were utilized.

Despite the controversy entering its fourth day, Doosan Magazine remains tight-lipped. Party footage remains on their social media, and they are monitoring comments, engaging in a standoff with the public.

1. Why hate on the celebrities? Seriously, the organizers were the issues here

2. If you're going to blame someone, blame the organizers. Either release the entire participant list from the past 20 years or selectively leak it, it's laughable. Even now, they're using celebrities as a shield so the organizers can try to cut their losses

3. Can we hate on the organizers? Wha is this... people were all quiet until last year. Why are you guys doing this?

4. Unless you reveal all the list of people who participated in the past 20 years, you should be hating on the organizers instead

5. bringing the list of people who attended won't change anything. We should all just stop consuming from celebritiesã…‹ã…‹

6. No they think that people are fools?ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ They are cosplaying as victimesã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

7. They've been doing this for 20 years so bring us a list of everyone who participated

8. People just want an apology and change.. The easiest thing would be to get rid of this...

9. Why bring up the list of people? The people who care so much about the list should go and donate instead

10. Even Kim Yuna attended in 2023 so are we gonna start hating on Kim Yuna too?
