HYBE’s side asked, “While you were serving as CEO, were you aware that an employee at ADOR who handled NewJeans’ styling work personally received about 700 million won (478K USD) in styling service fees from advertisers, separate from their salary?”
Former CEO Min responded, “That’s completely untrue. The question itself is incorrect, you said it was separate from their salary, but it was an incentive that had been allocated, and the police issued a non-indictment decision. Since we allowed side jobs, it actually saved ADOR money on incentives.”
HYBE continued, “Are you aware that the prosecution ordered a supplementary investigation? Around late July 2025, when the National Tax Service began a tax audit on HYBE and its labels, it imposed corporate tax and additional penalties on the grounds that the 700 million won in service fees constituted ADOR’s revenue. Are you aware of that?”
Min replied, “I have no idea. This case received a non-indictment; HYBE probably didn’t submit an explanation on purpose. That’s what I strongly suspect. Even if there were additional taxes, if the incentives hadn’t been paid that way, ADOR would have had to pay them.”
HYBE then asked, “Are you saying HYBE deliberately didn’t respond during the tax audit in order to be hit with penalties?”
Min answered, “Yes.”
