That takes some guts. Along with the globalization of K-pop, the parade of somewhat less serious concepts is beginning to resurface. At first, I thought it might be a promotional song for K-culture. After all, it uses Italian cuisine as its theme, or perhaps the theme song for Netflix’s hit competition show Culinary Class War, but the timing doesn’t match either. Despite the solid arrangement, the forced presentation aimed at creating contrived rhymes never manages to go beyond that. It feels as awkward as spaghetti stuck between your teeth.
Thinking back to songs like Perfect Night (2023) and Come Over from Hot earlier this year, tracks that appealed to both the public and critics alike with their easy listenability, the disappointment here feels even greater. The strong image they’ve projected since debuting is understandable, but this sudden food-based metaphor just feels out of place. J-Hope’s presence, at least, blends in naturally. Still, you can’t exactly chew on “Spaghetti.”
