An incident in which the Mexican president was SA-ed while greeting a citizen is causing widespread outrage.

Mexico's first female president, Claudia Sheinbaum, was sexually assaulted by a drunk male on the streets of Mexico City on the 4th (local time).

At the time, President Sheinbaum was walking from the Presidential Palace to the Ministry of Education building when she stopped briefly to greet citizens.

At this point, a man reportedly approached the president from behind, put his mouth on the nape of her neck, and attempted inappropriate physical contact.

The footage quickly spread across social media, shocking Mexico.

The man, who was subdued by the president's entourage, was reportedly later handed over to the police.

President Sheinbaum said at a press conference the next day, "If this is happening to the president, what must be happening to the countless other women in Mexico?" She added, "I filed this complaint on behalf of all of us."
