Following the announcement of aespa's appearance on this program, past posts by Ningning on social media sparked controversy, leading to calls for her withdrawal from the performance.

Composed of KARINA, WINTER, GISELLE, and NINGNING, aespa debuted in Korea on November 17, 2020, with their debut single “Black Mamba” under SM Entertainment, home to groups like TVXQ and Girls' Generation. They have been active across borders, including completing their Japanese debut with “Hot Mess” on July 3, 2024.

Furthermore, NINGNING has been experiencing poor health. After receiving medical examination at a hospital, she was diagnosed with influenza infection. The doctor advised that sufficient rest and recovery are necessary. Our agency has applied to NHK, and as a result, only three members: KARINA, GISSELE, and WINTER, will appear in this year's Kohaku Uta Gassen.
