[theqoo] CHOI SIWON, SHARES MESSAGE FOLLOWING YOON SUK YEOL'S LIFE SENTENCE "IF ONE IS UNJUST, ONE IS INEVITABLY PUNISHED"

Super Junior member and actor Choi Si-won posted a series of meaningful phrases on his Instagram.

On the 19th, Choi uploaded an image containing a four-character idiom. He first posted the phrase “不可思議,” meaning “mysterious” or “inexplicable,” but later deleted it. He then uploaded “不義必亡 (If one is unjust, one will surely perish),” which was also deleted. Currently, the phrase “不義必亡, 土崩瓦解 (to collapse utterly)” remains posted.

“不義必亡” means “If one is unjust, one will inevitably perish,” while “土崩瓦解” means “to collapse completely, like earth crumbling and tiles shattering.” When used together, the expressions can be interpreted as a warning that injustice and wrongdoing ultimately lead to the collapse of an organization or system.

The post was shared online under the title “Choi Siwon’s Instagram after the Yoon Suk-yeol verdict.” On the same day, former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who had been indicted as the alleged ringleader of an insurrection related to the December 3 emergency martial law incident, was sentenced to life imprisonment in the first trial. As the Instagram post appeared shortly after the ruling, speculation arose that Choi may have been indirectly expressing his views.

Some netizens who support Yoon reacted to the post with comments such as “This is moving,” “I feel comforted,” and “Let’s not give up.” However, Choi did not provide any additional explanation regarding the post.

Previously, on the 17th, Choi had also uploaded an image with the word “Enchufados.” The Spanish term literally means “people who are plugged in,” and has been used to describe “fake opposition figures” who outwardly claim to represent opposition forces but secretly enjoy privileges through backdoor dealings with those in power.

Last year, Choi shared on Instagram a memorial message from American pastor and author John Bevere and the Christian community “Bible Alive.” The message read, “We mourn the death of one of America’s heroes, Charlie Kirk. He stood firmly against evil,” and “Charlie Kirk, rest in peace.”

As speculation arose that Choi might be defending Kirk’s far-right tendencies, he deleted the post. Choi later explained, “Charlie Kirk was a Christian, the head of a household, and a husband,” adding, “Regardless of the circumstances, I thought it was a tragic loss of life to be shot and killed during a university lecture, regardless of political orientation, so I paid my respects.”
