Taemin, Baekhyun, Chen, Xiumin, The Boyz, and other singers under the same music label face a crisis where they cannot carry out their activities smoothly. Several companies that collaborated with them have not been paid, and some are suffering from financial hardship and mental anguish. At the center of it all is one person: CEO Cha Gawon.
According to an investigation by The Fact on the 5th, CEO Cha Gawon, who leads One Hundred, Big Planet Made Entertainment, and INB100, has failed to pay numerous companies essential to artist activities, including those involved in album production, content creation, hair and makeup, and marketing. She has even failed to pay set fees for music programs featuring her agency's artists.
“I did nothing wrong, yet I became a debtor. I became a liar to those who trusted me. My mental state collapsed. Months later, I found my bank account seized for unpaid health insurance premiums. I have a child. To cover each expense, I sold my car and even took out loans.” This is the lament of Mr. A, who worked with CEO Cha Gawon's company. What drove him into this suffering is ‘CEO Cha Gawon's unpaid debts’.
I was wondering why only digital singles were being released... turns out they haven't paid fees to numerous companies.
CEO Cha failed to pay tens of billions of won to various companies essential for producing physical albums for singers, including printing companies, production firms, marketing agencies, and hair and makeup studios. Consequently, the agency's artists cannot even release physical albums. Even when releasing music digitally instead of physical albums, they find it difficult to conduct proper promotions and activities.

Set fees unpaid... Can we still see the singers on music shows?
CEO Cha Gawon has been indicted on fraud charges under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (‘[Exclusive] Cha Gawon Indicted on Allegations of 10 Billion Won Fraud... Received Advance Payments and 'Walked Away’?'), and she has also failed to properly pay the money owed to her affiliated singers ([Exclusive] Baekhyun, Taemin, The Boyz Each Owed 1 Billion Won... Cha Gawon Squeezed Singers, ‘5 Billion Won Unpaid’). Furthermore, the accumulated unpaid debts to various companies amount to billions of won.
The scope of CEO Cha's unpaid debts is extensive. It even includes broadcasters. These are costs for sets produced when singers appear on music programs.

Cha Gawon's absurd company management is causing someone to struggle financially.
CEO Cha has received hundreds of billions of won by leveraging the intellectual property of ger agency's artists, while the artists themselves work tirelessly through concerts, broadcasts, and events, consistently generating revenue for the company. Yet, she is not paying them what they are owed. It is practically impossible to fully grasp where all that money is going or whether it is being used properly.
It appears, however, that it's not a case of not wanting to pay, but rather being unable to pay. Due to CEO Cha's peculiar company management, these companies are in a state of capital impairment (‘[Exclusive] 10.8 billion won in clothing expenses, 72 billion won in advance payments’... Cha Gawon's ‘abnormal company management’). Representative Cha herself has also defaulted on taxes, leading to the seizure of his villa by the National Tax Service ([Exclusive] Cha Ga-won's villa seized for high tax arrears... Lee Seung-gi and Baekhyun's ‘empty shell lease’ becomes reality).
Meanwhile, some are struggling to make ends meet. Among those owed money by CEO Cha are large companies, but small businesses are more numerous. One such representative, Mr. A, mustered the courage to meet with The Fact, stating, “I've never once been paid for the work I did. I need to pay the people I worked with, but I can't face them.” He expressed his financial hardship and extreme stress.
To prevent secondary harm, we will not disclose Mr. A's identity or the amount involved, but we have confirmed through unrelated sources that he did work with CEO Cha's company.
Mr. A recalled, “I worked on a long-term project, but I never received a single payment. After issuing the tax invoice, the money should have come in within 2-3 weeks, but it didn't. When I asked about it, they said I had to decide whether to receive a lump sum or installments. I asked them to settle it as soon as possible. They kept saying they would pay, but it got delayed for months. Then they told me to send an official letter to the company.”
