HYBE’s subsidiary ADOR has refuted claims that it is delaying a lawsuit seeking approximately 43 billion won (~28M USD) in damages against former NewJeans member Danielle, her family, and former ADOR CEO Min Heejin (currently CEO of Ooak Records).
During a pretrial hearing held on the morning of the 26th at the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 31 (Presiding Judge Nam In-su) regarding the damages lawsuit filed by ADOR against Danielle and former CEO Min, ADOR stated, “This damages lawsuit and the penalty clause do not determine Danielle’s entertainment activities.”
Danielle’s side argued, “This case was initiated by the plaintiff. We notified her of termination because we determined there was a material breach regarding Danielle. If that is the case, the grounds for termination must already be established. We are not seeking evidence through litigation. It has been three months since this case began,“ adding, ”The plaintiff’s side should already have the supporting evidence. What we request is that if you set a deadline for the hearing, the plaintiff can submit the necessary materials, and we will then present our rebuttal."
In response, ADOR countered, “You are linking Danielle’s activities to this case, but this is a lawsuit for damages and liquidated damages. It does not determine the defendant’s entertainment activities. The defendant herself can decide whether to engage in entertainment activities.”
Upon hearing this, Danielle’s side retorted, “If Danielle resumes her activities, the plaintiffs will inevitably raise objections and cause trouble.”
