“We're clearing out the inventory.”
They placed bulk orders expecting a sales boom from the BTS concert, but this is the unsold inventory.
Even the albums remain unsold.
The gimbap, which had been stored in extra refrigerators, passed its expiration date and was discarded in large quantities over the weekend.

“As for the kimbap, we had to throw out 600 to 700 pieces. That’s a loss of at least 1 to 2 million won a day.”
The remaining dairy products aren’t even on display; they’re piled up, crammed into every available space.

[theqoo] CONVENIENCE STORES NEAR BTS' GWANGHWAMUN CONCERT SEE SALES SKYROCKET... NEARBY STORES' SALES 'EXPLODE'
The comeback concert shook up downtown Seoul’s commercial district and brought a smile to the convenience store industry.
According to industry sources on the 22nd, sales at major convenience stores such as CU and E-Mart 24 located near Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul surged significantly on the day of the BTS concert, held on the 21st.
CU reported that sales at 10 stores near Gwanghwamun, within the concert’s influence zone, rose 270.9% compared to the same day the previous week (the 14th). In particular, sales at the three stores located on the main street closest to the concert venue surged 547.8%, jumping more than fivefold.
Customers began flocking to the stores several hours before the concert started, resulting in foot traffic that exceeded weekday levels despite it being a weekend. After the concert ended, the influx of people heading home caused nighttime sales to rise again, creating a “double peak” phenomenon.
Emart 24 also benefited from the concert effect. Sales at 36 stores in the Gwanghwamun and Jongno areas increased by 39% compared to the previous week, with some stores seeing a surge of up to 301%.
A convenience store industry official stated, “This performance went beyond a simple event to drive consumption across the entire downtown area, demonstrating a positive economic ripple effect amid challenging domestic and international conditions.” They added, “As a promotional platform introducing K-convenience stores and Korean consumer culture to foreign customers, it has become a turning point that will change the mood of the retail industry this year.”
