My mom is what you call a freaking devout 
Honestly, it's pretty severe... I feel like non-believers would be genuinely horrified
Moreover, she is a church senior deaconess ㅋㅎㅎ
My unnie introduced her boyfriend whom she was going to marry
My unnie told my mom never to bring up religion to him (he is non-religious, but his parents are Buddhist), saying they would handle it themselves
But she brought it up at the formal meeting between the families... talking about church
Because of that, their facial expressions soured... and the meeting ended quickly
Then, his parents forbade the marriage, saying they absolutely opposed it, so they broke off the engagement
My unnie is truly devastated and suffering from depression (she had been dating him for 8 years...). I don't even know how she is functioning at work right now
I don't have a boyfriend right now, but if I get one... unless he is Christian, is there any family out there that could handle this? ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

1. Religion is honestly super important. It gets as bad as not aligning politically 

2. Just go in sogaetings with the people in your church 

3. My friend said that since both sets of parents are hardcore Christians, there was a fierce power struggle during the formal meeting between the families over who would pray and deliver the prayer. They even wanted a pastor they knew to officiate the wedding

4. That's why you need to align in terms of religion. It's not like marriage is between 2 people. It's a union between families

6. The way they wanted to date while keeping it a secret is so funny to me ㅋㅋ If you're this proud of your religion, why hide it from the in-laws?

7. I really hope this is fake, because there's even worse cases than this in reality...

9. Conflicts with in-laws due to religion are really commonplace...

10. Birds of a feather flock together. How big is the Christian population? Stop trying to evangelize and just hang out amongst yourselves
