BLISSOO artist Jisoo has issued an official statement through her legal representative regarding the recent family-related controversy spreading online, signaling a strong legal response.
On the 20th, attorney Eun Hyun-ho of Kim & Chang, who serves as Jisoo’s legal counsel, stated in an official release: “The matter currently being raised is completely unrelated to the artist and BLISSOO,” adding, “We express serious regret over actions that damage the artist’s reputation based on false information.”
Jisoo’s side particularly denied any business connection between the artist and the individual in question. Her legal representative stated, “Claims that the individual co-founded the company with the artist or serves as an executive or CEO of BLISSOO are entirely untrue,” and clarified, “That individual currently has no legal or managerial relationship with BLISSOO.”
They further emphasized the artist’s independence, explaining, “Jisoo became independent early on during her trainee years and has lived apart from her family for a long time, making it impossible for her to be aware of or involved in the private life of that individual.” They added that while she received limited advice from family members during the early stages of establishing BLISSOO, no compensation was provided and no family members participated in decision-making, and the company has since been operated fully independently.
Regarding financial support, they firmly stated, “BLISSOO and the artist do not provide any financial or legal support to the individual in question, nor do they plan to do so in the future.”
Finally, the legal representative warned, “Spreading false information or linking the artist’s image to unrelated matters constitutes a clear violation of rights,” adding, “We will take immediate civil and criminal legal action against those who create and distribute defamatory content, without any leniency or settlement.”
Below is the full official statement from Jisoo’s legal representative:
This is attorney Eun Hyun-ho of Kim & Chang, legal counsel for BLISSOO.
We express serious concern over the indiscriminate spread of actions that associate the artist and BLISSOO with a family-related issue currently circulating in some media outlets, online communities, and social media, or that damage their reputation based on false information.
First, the matter being raised is entirely unrelated to the artist and BLISSOO, and much of the content circulating online consists of unverified speculation or outright falsehoods.
The artist began her trainee life at a young age and became independent early, living apart from her family for a long time, making it impossible for her to know or be involved in the private life of the individual in question.
Additionally, during the preparation process for establishing BLISSOO, the artist did receive limited advice from family members and help conveying communications for discussions with relevant parties. However, at no point—then or now—have family members received compensation from BLISSOO or participated in decision-making. Since then, the company has been operated completely independently, without any involvement from family members.
In particular, claims circulating in some media and online that “the individual co-founded the company with the artist” or “the individual is part of BLISSOO’s management or its CEO” are entirely false. We clearly state that the individual currently has no legal or managerial relationship with BLISSOO.
Furthermore, BLISSOO and the artist do not provide any financial or legal support to the individual and have no plans to do so in the future. They also have no interaction or involvement whatsoever regarding this matter.
Nevertheless, continuously spreading false information or using the artist’s name, likeness, or image in connection with unrelated matters constitutes a clear violation of rights and defamation.
Accordingly, our legal team strongly warns that we will immediately take all possible civil and criminal legal measures against the following actions:
- Creating and distributing false information and defamatory posts
- Using the artist’s name, likeness, or image in unrelated matters
- Producing articles or content based on speculation without fact-checking
In particular, we make it clear that we will respond firmly, without any leniency or settlement, against those who repeatedly or maliciously create and spread such content.
