On the afternoon of the 21st, the First Criminal Division (Panel A) of the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Guk-sik) held a trial for a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who had been detained and indicted on charges of robbery causing injury.
At the hearing, Nana, who appeared as a witness, confronted A as soon as she entered the courtroom, saying, “Is this fun for you? Look me straight in the eyes,” pressing him aggressively. She was then instructed by the judge to take her seat.
The court told her, “We understand how you feel, but the trial cannot proceed smoothly if you are in an agitated state,” attempting to calm her down. Nana responded, “It’s impossible not to be upset,” but soon regained composure and continued with her testimony.
Describing the situation at the time, Nana said, “I heard my mother groaning and the sound of a man breathing. Hearing that, I sensed danger, so I went out as cautiously as possible. When I witnessed the scene, I was extremely agitated and thought I needed to quickly separate my mother from that man.”
She continued, “I never imagined he would have a knife, but I thought I had to take it away. Seeing his actions, I believed that since he was holding a knife, he could do anything to my mother. I instinctively acted in defense,” adding that a physical struggle ensued.
She further explained, “He was bleeding from a neck injury caused by the knife I swung, and A said to me, ‘I was wrong, I’m sorry, please spare me.’ Seeing him as a robber, I thought I needed to calm him down and wanted to hear what he had to say. After listening, I realized that bringing a knife in itself was dangerous, so I quietly mouthed to my mother to call the police,” describing the situation before reporting to authorities.
Meanwhile, A is accused of breaking into Nana’s home in Acheon-dong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province, at around 6 p.m. on November 15 last year with a weapon, threatening Nana and her mother, demanding money, and causing injury in the process.
Nana and her mother had submitted a statement of non-attendance and reasons to the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court last month regarding the trial of Mr. A, who was indicted on robbery causing injury charges. However, the court reissued a summons, leading to their attendance.

I also said everything I wanted to say to that man.
I don't regret my actions or my words.
Everyone must have been worried, but I'm okay.
I believe it's over now!
