Earlier that day, the media outlet Field News exclusively reported that the Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office had suddenly launched an intensive, unscheduled tax audit of actor Ji Changwook around March without prior notice.
Below is the full text of Ji Changwook’s official statement.
"Hello. This is Spring Company.
We are issuing this official statement regarding reports on the tax audit of our actor, Ji Changwook.
First, we deeply apologize for causing concern to many people due to this matter. However, we would like to clearly state that there was absolutely no intentional omission of income or tax evasion through fraudulent means.
During the recent tax audit, the company submitted all relevant documents transparently and cooperated fully with the investigation. However, we have confirmed that there is a difference of opinion with the tax authorities regarding the interpretation and application of tax laws, specifically whether income generated from the actor’s entertainment activities should be attributed to the individual or the corporation under the principle of substantial taxation.
Despite this difference in interpretation, since our debut in 2008, we have strictly adhered to relevant laws and procedures without any tax-related issues, making the faithful fulfillment of our tax obligations our top priority. Therefore, we respect the results of this National Tax Service investigation and plan to pay the assessed back taxes without delay in accordance with the relevant procedures.
To prevent similar incidents in the future, we will conduct a thorough review of our tax and accounting management systems and continue to comply with laws and principles while faithfully fulfilling our tax obligations."

4. That's incredible. Everyone makes so much money, and when they get audited, it's not just 12 million, it's hundreds of millions, even tens or hundreds of billionsã…Žã…Žã…Žã…Žã…Žã…Ž I can't even imagine what kind of life they lead
5. He has billions he could pay up right away, so why is he acting like this? These new aristocrats are truly disgusting
6. Of course he would say this
7. Honestly, there are more than a few celebrities who've been caught, but they only get criticized at the time they're caught. Since they all carry on with their careers as if nothing happened and people keep supporting them, doesn't that create an atmosphere where it seems like you'd be a fool not to evade taxes?
8. Sigh.... we're already so short of male actors... for the rest of you... farewell...
9. Celebrities are seriously disgusting
10. And how much did he evade specifically?
