[theqoo] "YOU CAN SEE YOUR UNDIES, WHY ARE YOU LOWERING YOUR PANTS?"... 'THAT CLOTHES' THAT IS FAMOUS AMONG WOMEN IN THEIR 20S AND 30S

"Searches for "fold-over jeans", which look as if they’ve been deliberately left unbuttoned, have increased by 261%, continuing the trend of low-rise and Y2K styles"

"Foldover jeans" are emerging as a new fashion trend. This style, which originated among Gen Z in the U.S., appears to be spreading to South Korea as well.

According to the fashion platform 29CM, operated by Musinsa, on the 28th, search volume for the keyword “foldover” increased by 261% year-over-year during the approximately two-month period from June 1 to July 27.

During the same period, search volume for low-rise pants rose by 102%, and search volume for low-rise denim more than doubled. Following the shift in trends from high-waisted to low-rise styles, the "fold-over" style, which involves folding down the waistband, is also gaining popularity.

Fold-over jeans are designed with an extra piece of fabric folded or secured at the waist, making the front of the pants appear open. They are characterized by an effect that makes the waistband of underwear appear slightly visible or by exposing the inner lining to create a layered look.

On Ably (T/N: One of Korean versions of Shein), search volume for "fold-over" increased by 87% from June 1 to July 27 compared to the previous quarter. Searches for "fold-over pants" rose by 60%, "folding pants" by 49%, and "folding skirts" and "folding tracksuits" by 67% and 65%, respectively.

Industry observers predict that as consumers in their 20s and 30s, who value individuality, reinterpret Y2K fashion in their own unique ways, the fold-over design will establish itself as one of the key fashion trends for the second half of this year, following in the footsteps of low-rise styles.
