Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the d**th of a Japanese female influencer in her 20s who d**d while conducting a live stream on social media.
According to the police on the 5th, a report was received at approximately 5:33 a.m. that day stating that a Japanese woman in her 20s, identified as "A," had attempted su****e at an officetel (studio apartment building) in Hangang-ro-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
A was a TikTok influencer with approximately 80,000 followers; it appears she took her own life while hosting a live broadcast from her residence. The incident was reportedly transmitted live during the broadcast.
An acquaintance of A reportedly contacted the police, stating, "My friend attempted s****** during the broadcast." At the time, numerous posts urging a swift police response also appeared on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).

That fan was already pretty well known on TikTok.
I'd popped into her livestreams a few times before, and she consistently had a few hundred viewers. She was kind of the type of fan influencer who had both dedicated supporters and people who disliked her.
Since she's pretty and cute, she naturally had a lot of fans. But because of jealousy and some things from her past, she also had a lot of haters.
Then she went to ENHYPEN's US tour and uploaded a selfie.
The problem was that she took the selfie with them back to the stage.
International fans criticized her, saying, "Why would you go to a concert just to take selfies instead of watching the performance?"
She responded by posting, "This is just the way I enjoy concerts."
After that, Ni-ki went live during the tour.
He said something along the lines of how there are fans who come to concerts but don't actually enjoy the performance, they just want him to notice them, and that he finds that a bit uncomfortable.
He also said he understood taking photos or filming with your phone because he probably would've done the same.
The thing is, ENHYPEN concerts are already pretty well known for the "sketchbook/sign board" culture.
It's especially common among parts of the Chinese fandom, but even people in the front rows sometimes spend the whole concert focused on getting gifts or interactions from the members instead of watching the performance.
International fans have been talking about this for a while.
Since it's supposed to be a concert, not a fansign event, people assumed Ni-ki was expressing disappointment about fans who only care about getting interactions from the members.
Now, remember how I said there were already people who disliked that fan?
They saw this as their chance and started saying, "He's obviously talking about that fan."
Then they began mass-har**sing her.
Up to this point, it could have just remained a personal incident.
But then, because Ni-ki didn't accept her gift, she tried to have another member deliver it to him.
Sunoo is well known for being a member who usually grants fans' requests.
The fan gave Sunoo a sunflower.
But she actually wanted him to pass it on to Ni-ki.
For whatever reason, the situation didn't work out, so Sunoo eventually handed the flower back.
(At the time, Ni-ki was interacting with other fans.)
At first, Sunoo fans didn't know the full story.
One fan who had attended the U.S. tour uploaded a video saying something like, "Someone must have prepared this sunflower for Sunoo. He accepted it and smiled so beautifully."
But then the original fan posted on her own account that she was actually the one who had tried to give the sunflower.
(The sunflower incident and Ni-ki's livestream happened at different times.)
People then started saying,
"So this is the fan the members were talking about, the one who doesn't actually enjoy the concert."
"And on top of that, she used another member as a delivery person."
Because of that, she became the target of mass online har**sment from fans all over the world.
She eventually posted an apology.
But she included selfies of herself with the members.
That just led to even more ridicule.
People mocked her, asking why she'd include selfies in an apology, saying things like, "Is this just to make everyone jealous because they can't take photos like that?"
In her apology, she wrote that she had intended to give Ni-ki a rose and Sunoo a sunflower.
But later, during another livestream, she clarified that the sunflower had actually been intended for Ni-ki.
She also said she'd apologized to Sunoo during the meet-and-greet after the concert, and that Sunoo had apologized back, saying he was sorry he couldn't deliver the flower.
Then things got even worse.
During that livestream, the fan claimed that Ni-ki discriminates against Asians.
That accusation caused the global backlash against her to become even more intense.
Videos also surfaced of her crying while trying to get someone to deliver the flower.
Another video from the meet-and-greet showed Ni-ki talking to another fan while she repeatedly tapped him to get his attention.
As those clips spread, the international criticism of her exploded.
A few days after posting the apology, she set her account to "closed."
Then shortly afterward, she reopened it.
People mocked her for switching from "closed" back to "open" so quickly.
For reference, Korean fans generally weren't the ones publicly har**sing her.
Most of the mass criticism came in Japanese and English.
For almost a week, my recommendation feeds were flooded with posts about her every single day.
She received an unbelievable amount of hate.
I figured a lot of people probably don't know the full situation, so I wrote down everything I know.
She's really young and pretty, so I honestly feel bad for her.
