[Nate] "EAVESDROPPING DEVICE ON CAFE TABLE"... POLICE INVESTIGATING WOMAN IN HER 50S WHO EAVESDROPPED ON CHA EUNWOO'S CONVERSATION

A woman in her 50s is under police investigation on charges of eavesdropping on conversations involving singer and actor Cha Eunwoo.

According to an MBN report on the 18th, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station has booked the woman, identified as "A," and is investigating her for violating the Protection of Communications Secrets Act.

A is accused of planting a listening device under a table at a café in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on two occasions, the 23rd and 29th of last month, to eavesdrop on conversations between Cha Eunwoo and an acquaintance.

She was apprehended by police on the 30th of last month while attempting to retrieve the device after a report was filed. Although initially placed under emergency arrest, she has reportedly been released and is currently being investigated without detention.

The Seoul Yongsan Police Station plans to review whether to request an arrest warrant for the woman after fully establishing the details of the incident.

You aren't picturing a place like Starbucks when I say "cafe," are you? Naturally, it would be an upscale cafe with private rooms rather than an open-plan space. They would have made a reservation, which is how they managed to install it beforehand. More than wondering *how* they knew to install it, I’m actually more curious about how the device under the table was discovered. After all, is there any reason for us to be looking under the table at a cafe?
