Yuri Nakamura passed away on September 1st due to rectal cancer. We respectfully share this news while expressing our gratitude for the warm interest and love you showed her during her lifetime.
The funeral has already taken place, attended only by close family members and colleagues from her agency.
Yuri Nakamura had previously battled cancer 13 years ago. At that time, she chose not to disclose the specific diagnosis so as not to cause unnecessary worry to those around her, she subsequently achieved remission and continued to lead a healthy life while pursuing her beloved career as an actress. She also diligently attended all her regular check-ups.
However, cancer was detected again in January of last year. Although the surgery itself was successful, metastasis was discovered afterward. At that point, aiming for a complete cure or remission became difficult; instead, she focused on living with the cancer while undergoing treatment, aiming to live a vibrant, fulfilling life for as long as possible.
She educated herself thoroughly about her condition, and her attending physician also encouraged her to continue working.
However, this past August, while she was recovering in hopes of returning to work, she suffered another intestinal obstruction and was suddenly informed that she had very little time left.
Even then, she remained composed, never losing her beautiful, gentle smile, and cherished her final moments with family and loved ones.
Although she spent much of her thirties and forties battling illness and enduring hardships with great mental strength, those years were also filled with wonderful encounters, happiness, and fulfilling moments.
We once again extend our sincere gratitude to the fans who offered their warm support, as well as to the staff and fellow actors who worked alongside her.
We kindly ask that you refrain from seeking interviews with the bereaved family or filming around their home.
