The drama generated anticipation even before its premiere due to the pairing of Seo Kangjoon and Ahn Eun-jin. It drew particular attention as Seo Kangjoon's follow-up project after winning the Daesang at the '2025 MBC Drama Awards.' Following his military discharge, he previously achieved both commercial success and the Grand Prize with 'Undercover High School' (released last February), which marked his return to television and recorded a peak viewership rating of 8.3%.

However, the first two episodes fell short of expectations. 'A Love Other Than You' premiered with a viewership rating of 2.6% (based on nationwide data from Nielsen Korea) and rose by just 0.2 percentage points to 2.8% for the second episode. These figures are roughly half of the premiere ratings for Seo Kangjoon’s previous starring drama, 'Undercover High School' (5.6%), and the predecessor to 'A Love Other Than You', Namgoong Min’s 'The Completion of Marriage' (4.4%).

1. Seo Kangjoon's drama.... None of them have been fun 

2. I wouldn't judge if it was a real romcom but the plot and topics are just way too non-mainstream

6. Seo Kangjoon would probably fare better if the people who claim to "like" him, but actually just use him to bash other celebrities, stopped paying attention to him; honestly, it feels like that’s their only motive more often than not, which is exactly why everyone else is just waiting for a chance to tear him down

8. I’m a fan of Seo Kangjoon, and I really loved his romance in 'When the Weather Is Fine', I’m a big fan of his romantic acting. But this latest project doesn't seem to have the elements needed to spark that heart-fluttering feeling. Ultimately, no matter how handsome an actor is, the script and direction have to be good. I really wish he’d do a classic, straightforward romance for once; honestly, this one was a bit too low-key ㅠ

9. Looks like he wants to stay away from romcom and just do meloromance but you really need a good romcom to hit big
