[theqoo] 'PERFECT CROWN', WORST DRAMA OF THE YEAR... MASTERPIECE TARNISHED BY CONTROVERSY

The MBC drama "Perfect Crown" has earned the dubious distinction of being named the "Worst Drama of the Year," receiving 45 out of 142 total votes.

Set in a fictional, constitutional-monarchist version of South Korea where a rigid class system persists, the series follows the romance between a "Daegun" (a prince), who hides his true royal identity, and a woman who unexpectedly finds herself integrated into a chaebol family. Even before its premiere, the show generated significant buzz due to its massive production budget (estimated at 30 billion KRW), a collaboration between MBC and Disney+, and the casting of top stars IU and Byeon Wooseok. It dominated its time slot, reaching a peak viewership rating of 13.8%, and also performed well globally upon its simultaneous release on Disney+.

1. Wait, I heard the male lead is going to the AAA (Asia Artist Awards) to receive an award for this drama?

2. Honestly, even setting aside the controversies, it wasn't good, it was just a hodgepodge of various things stitched together

3. Still, I bet the M-network will hand them an award at their year-end ceremony

4. They’re actually airing reruns?? Are they out of their minds?

5. The acting was poor, and the script was bad, too...

6. A drama where not wearing a hanbok is framed as an act of resistance?ㅎㅎ

7. The fact that they didn't scrap it entirely is just infuriating. It’s even worse knowing they’ll likely just hand awards to each other at the ceremony

8. I’ve come to loathe everyone involved, the production team that made a drama supporting the "Northeast Project" (distorting Korean history), the actors, and even the fandom that defended them. These traitors should be exiled

9. This drama made me hate anything that M-network put out... They are so detestable

10. This is the "Worst Drama of the Year", it's the "Worst Drama in History". It's as bad as Joseon Exorcist
