Recently, a job posting shared by someone claiming to be an acquaintance of the person in charge of WOODZ’s concert spread across an online community.
The post was recruiting staff for the Germany stop of WOODZ’s world tour “Archive.1,” which has been ongoing since March. The writer explained, “If you work as a volunteer staff member on the day of the stay, your assigned duties may include maintaining audience order and assisting with booths, staff support, meals, and other related tasks.”
In particular, the conditions stating “unpaid, meals provided, concert viewing available” sparked controversy.
The application requirements included “ability to communicate in Korean/German,” “K-pop concert experience preferred,” and “knowledge related to merchandise/concerts.”
The writer added, “There is a WOODZ concert in Germany, so I’m posting this on behalf of my friend who is in charge.” After criticism over the unpaid volunteer recruitment grew, they further commented, “It seems they are recruiting unpaid volunteers in exchange for allowing them to watch the concert,” adding, “I thought this could be a good opportunity for fans of the artist, so I posted it. I hope only those who are interested will apply.”
The post quickly spread across online communities and social media, drawing widespread backlash. Some people also raised the possibility that the issue could stem from the concert operations agency.
